<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head useful for improving the directivity and carry of a hit ball. <P>SOLUTION: The wood type golf club head 1 comprises a head body 1a in a hollow structure having a face 2 for hitting a ball and a hosel part 1b provided on the heel side and provided with a shaft insertion hole 7 to which a shaft is to be mounted. The ratio (W/L) of a toe-heel direction length L (mm) which is a length between the axial center line CL of the shaft insertion hole 7 and a point most on the toe side, which is a head surface point on the toe side most away from the axial center line CL, and a head depth length W (mm) which is a length between a plane in contact with the sweet spot of the face 2 and a point most on the back side, which is a head surface point on the back face side most away from the plane, is≥0.80 and≤1.0.
