PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video database construction device, a video retrieval device, and an unknown word retrieval device, which can be achieved by the smallest possible processes. SOLUTION: This video database construction device consists of a title acquisition device 1 which acquires titles of news from information other than video, a keyword extracting device 2 which extracts keywords of the news from the plurality of acquired titles, a video detection device 3 which detects video containing scenes displaying the extracted keywords, and a video database device 4 which associates and records the keywords and the positions of the detected video and scenes. The video retrieval device retrieves desired video from the title character string of the news using the video database device 4. The unknown word retrieval device retrieves unknown words relevant to the video without inputting characters using the keywords extracted when constructing the video database device 4.
