The present invention relates to a fluid cosmetic composition comprising, in a cosmetically-acceptable medium, one or more volatile solvents and color-effect particles, the medium being suitable, after forming a deposit of the composition on keratinous materials, for enabling the color effect to develop progressively after application, as a result of the particles rising to the surface of the deposit during evaporation of the volatile solvent (s).
