The pump (20) has a pump housing (22), in which a drive shaft (24) is supported with an eccentric cam section (26). The shaft is connected with a high pressure piston (30) guided in a cylinder (28) by the cam section. The piston is formed as two-piece with a cylindrical piston part and a ring that are connected with each other in a force-fitting and/or form-fitting manner. The ring is pressed or welded on the piston part. A laser welding joint is provided between the ring and piston part, where the ring has a recess at a lower side, in which the piston part is supported and locked.
