BACK LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A back light assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to prevent deterioration of a liquid crystal from occurring, thereby enhancing the display quality. A lamp unit includes a lamp(212) for generating the light beam. A lamp holder(214) is combined with an end of the lamp and has a lamp insertion groove of a heat discharge structure for reducing the contact area to the lamp. A lamp cover encompasses the lamp and reflects the light beam from the lamp. A light guide panel is arranged at a side of the lamp unit and guides the light beam from the lamp unit. A receiving container receives the lamp unit and the light guide panel. The lamp holder has a prominence and depression structure of a saw-toothed inner surface. The prominence and depression structure is formed only at the half area adjacent to a liquid crystal panel contained in a receiving container.
