A backlight unit is provided to remarkably enhance color purity and reproduction by absorbing or intercepting light of unnecessary wavelength bands through a filter layer. A backlight unit(100) is comprised of a base substrate(110), a semi-transmissive member(130), a reflecting member(120) and a filter layer(150). A light source(113) is mounted at the base substrate(110). The semi-transmissive member(130), arranged on the path of the light emitted from the light source(113), transmits some of the emitted light and reflects the other. The reflecting member(120), arranged between the base substrate(110) and the semi-transmissive member(130), reflects the reflected light back to the semi-transmissive member(130). The filter layer(150), formed on the semi-transmissive member(130), selectively absorbs light of a certain wavelength band. |
