<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image displaying method and an image displaying system which can easily reproduce each image by an optimal gradation in response to each image even when monochrome images and color images are mixedly displayed when a plurality of images which have been transmitted from different modalities are simultaneously displayed on one monitor. <P>SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus identifies the modality of the transmitting source of image data, and a look-up table or a correction factor for gradation correction in response to each modality is applied to the image data.
