PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stud gun which eliminates a problem that the plug of the stud gun using a permanent magnet, in a capacitor charge/discharge type stud welding machine, deteriorates in pin retaining force as it is used so that the weld strength of pins and working efficiency falls, because the supply of high current generates high heat in the plug during stud welding whereby the flux density of the permanent magnet is disturbed and the attraction of the permanent magnet is lowered, and further eliminates a problem that the life of the plug is shortened because unnecessary sparks generated on the current supply face of the plug stain the current supply face with oxide film. SOLUTION: The plug of the stud gun is equipped with the permanent magnet which is placed at the center. The circumference of the plug except the current supply face is covered with a reducing agent, and further with heat-release metal so that high heat and oxide film generated in the plug is lessened, whereby the plug is prevented from deteriorating in the attraction of the permanent magnet and working efficiency in welding the pins can be enhanced.
