PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the processing efficiency from a read to a document to generation of image data by greatly shortening the switching time from the end of a read of a first document to the start of a read of a second document and increasing a read speed of documents. SOLUTION: Parameters 1 and 2 for the first document are stored in first registers 24A and 25A, and parameters 1 and 2 for a second image are stored in second registers 24B and 25B. Even while the first document is image-processed, the parameters for the second document can be stored in the other registers. Consequently, the switching time from the end of the read of the first document to the start of the read of the second document is greatly shortened as compared with a conventional method of setting the parameters for image processing of the second document after image processing of the first document is completed, and then storing the parameters in the registers.
