The device has exhaust gas temperature sensors (13a, 13b) that measure temperature of an exhaust gas in a diesel particle filter (11). An electronic control unit (20) determines the temperature of the filter and compensates the determined temperature of the exhaust gas by an acceptance value of the temperature of the filter. The temperature compensation takes place either by the transfer of thermal energy of the exhaust gas in a gap between the filter and the sensors or by temperature gradients that are reduced from a central section of the filter in an outer peripheral direction.
