<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounter for improving packaging efficiency by improving a method for moving a contacting member in contact with a printed-wiring board. <P>SOLUTION: The surface mounter has a conveyor for supporting the printed-wiring board 2 so that the printed-wiring board 2 can travel in a conveyance direction. The surface mounter has a substrate moving device 14 for moving the printed-wiring board 2 on the conveyor to nib members 62 positioned at both the sides in the conveyance direction. The substrate moving device 14 comprises: a ball screw shaft 63 extended in the conveyance direction at the upper part of the conveyor; a ball nut screwed to the ball screw shaft 63; and first to tenth moving members 64-73 that have a hollow motor for driving the ball nut and are moved in parallel along the ball screw shaft by the drive of the hollow motor.
