PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice making machine capable of accurately controlling opening and closing of a water pan. SOLUTION: This ice making machine I comprising a cooler 1 provided with a number of ice making chambers 1A defined and formed in a state of being opened downward, and the water pan 5 capable of being inclined and returned for closing each of the ice making chambers 1A, performing an ice making stroke by jetting water from the water pan 5 to each of the ice making chambers 1A in such a state that the water pan 5 is placed at a prescribed horizontal closing position for closing the ice making chambers 1A, and performing an ice separating stroke for separating ice by heating the cooler 1 in such a state that the water pan 5 is placed at a prescribed inclined opening position for opening the ice making chambers 1A, further comprises a non contact-type water pan position detecting switch 30 for detecting the horizontal closing position and the inclined opening position of the water pan 5, and a control means 25 for stopping an operation of the ice making machine I and giving an alarm when the water pan position detecting switch 30 judges that the water pan is located at the inclined opening position, and further at the horizontal closing position.
