A method for recovering halogenated hydrocarbons (I), especially inhalation anaesthetics removed as associated gases and kept on sorption filters for later release, more especially for removing (I) from expired gases with a water vapor carrier, involves passing an air/water vapour mixture or water vapour through two sorption beds in series containing hydrophobic molecular sieve carbon and hydrophobic zeolite respectively, the gas temperature being 90-100[deg]C at normal pressure. An independent claim is included for a filter for the above method, comprising two filter beds arranged in series.
