An article sterilizer is provided to prevent the size enlargement and to have an airtight container obtained by forming a closed space by a method irrelevant to an external locking device. An article sterilizer(1) has airtight containers(10) forming a steam chamber(102) that heats and sterilizes inside articles. The airtight container includes a steam supply unit(20) which supplies hot steam of predetermined pressure to the steam chamber, and at least one opening/closing implement capable of making the inside of the steam chamber airtight. The opening/closing implement has an opening(11a) through which the articles pass, and a cover(11) which opens and closes the inside of the opening. The steam chamber is made airtight by moving the cover to bring the cover into contact with the inside of the opening, and increasing steam pressure of the steam chamber by the steam supply unit to make the cover adhered close to the opening.
