Plant for firing ceramics comprises tunnel driers 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, holding driers 3, and kilns each divided into a series of parallel firing chambers 1, 1<SP>1</SP> by internal walls with openings (not shown) at alternate ends, and subway ducts 7 connecting the ends of each kiln to ensure cyclic working of the chambers, the ware being charged from a central passage 2 on trucks associated with sealing troughs 19, Fig. 3. Longitudinal roof flues 15 connected at each end to waste flues under passages 2 and 9 or 9<SP>1</SP> have openings 5a, 5b closable by cast iron lids and cross-flues 16 communicating with vertical flues in the chamber walls entering the said chambers, Fig. 5 (not shown). Opposite chambers are connected by intermediate subway ducts 7 so that pairs of chambers can be isolated from the firing cycle if desired. Fuel and inspection shafts 15 are also provided.</p> |
