<p>The present invention is directed to a novel method for inhibiting the growth of bacterial pathogens expressing a type III secretory system as well as enteroaggregative E. coli and/or preventing or treating an infection caused by the same. The method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of bovine lactoferrin.</p>
