An automatic SMS(Short Message Service) response service method is provided to smoothly execute communication between SMS users by transmitting an automatic response announcement to callers through automatic SMS response setup in case it is impossible for a subscriber to receive short messages. A subscriber makes out a short message containing automatic SMS response setup information and an automatic response announcement and transmits it to an SMS server(S100). The SMS server, receiving the short message, transmits an automatic response setup request containing the subscriber's phone number to a subscriber management server through the Internet(S110). The subscriber management server, receiving the automatic response setup request, stores information on the subscriber's automatic SMS response setup and automatic response announcement in an associated column of a database, based on the subscriber's phone number(S120). |
