A gate-protrusion cutting apparatus and a method thereof are provided to remove a gate protrusion from a product by moving a cutting core relatively with regard to a pressing pin. A gate-protrusion cutting apparatus comprises a fixed plate(30), a moveable plate(50), a pressing pin(46), and a cutting core(64). The fixed plate includes a first template(32) having a first form core(38) for making the shape of a product. The fixed plate is attached to a fixed unit of a molding machine. The moveable plate includes a second template plate(56) having a second form core for making a product cavity corresponding to the shape of the product, in corporation with the first form core. The pressing pin penetrates the first form core of the fixed plate and presses a part of the product toward the second form core. The cutting core penetrates the second form core of the moveable plate, adheres to the first form core with elastic force. The cutting core is installed to the part where material is poured into the product cavity.
