COLORING RESIN COMPOSITION AND COLOR FILTER FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

A colorant resin composition useful for fabricating a color filter for a liquid crystal display device is provided to inhibit a drop in voltage maintenance in displaying images, to realize excellent shelf stability with time, and to accomplish stable image display with a good image reproducibility. A colorant resin composition comprises: a colorant having an average particle diameter of 200 nm or less; and an alkali soluble resin having at least one of carboxyl and phosphate groups and a sulfonate group per molecule. The alkali soluble resin has a weight average molecular weight of 2,000-100,000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography using polystyrene standards. The colorant includes at least one red colorant having an average particle diameter of 150 nm or less in an amount of at least 20 wt% based on the total solid content.
