摘要 Compounds containing one or more C to C triple bonds, particularly acetylene, are removed from hydrocarbon or inert gases, e.g. ethylene, ethane, or N2, by contacting the gases with an oxidizing agent in the presence of a platinumgroup metal, i.e. Ru, Rh, Pd, Os, Ir or Pt compound. The Pt metal compound catalyst which forms a complex with acetylene which is decomposed by an oxidizing agent, may be PdSO4, PdCl2, H2PtCl6, H2PtBr6 Pt(SO4)2, PtCl4 or PtO2 in H3PO4, and may be used in amount less than 0,1 mol./mol. acetylene and as solid, impregnated on to solid carriers, e.g. silica or alumina gel, silicates or active carbon, or suspended or in solution in acid, alkali, or neutral, aqueous or non-aqueous media. The oxidizing agents may be O2, compounds of metals of multiple valency, e.g. CuCl2, FeCl3 or Fe2(SO4)3, peroxy compounds, nitrogen-oxygen, or halogen-oxygen, compounds, or mixtures thereof. Preferred is the use of O2 in conjunction with multiple valency metal compound which latter may be in solution with the Pt metal compound together with H2SO4 or LiCl. In this preferred procedure the O2 may be contacted with the metal compounds either simultaneously with, or subsequently to, their contact with the gases. Gas contact may be at 20 DEG -300 DEG C. and atmospheric-30 atms. pressure.
