833,047. Batteries.SVENSKA ACKUMULATOR AKTIEBOLAGET JUNGNER. April 26, 1957 [May 5, 1956], No. 13420/57. Class 53. The plates of an accumulator are separated by a sheet or layer 5 of plastic material which has been perforated by needles which may project from a roller. The layer 5 is in contact with the positive plate 3 and with a porous layer 7 in contact with the negative plate 4. Ribs 6 may be provided on the layer 5. A second perforated plastic layer may be inserted between the layers 5, 7. Burrs 10 left round the perforations 11, Fig. 2, after the needlepiercing operation are left on that side of the sheet which makes contact with the positive plate. The sheet 5 may be folded into boxform to enclose the positive plate, and it may be folded round the positive elements of a plate composed of rod-shaped members as shown in Fig. 4. The plastic sheet 5 may consist of polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, &c. or of paper impregnated with a phenolic resin. The layer 7 may be of porous plastic or rubber, or mats of fibrous material, for example cotton, glass, plastic, &c. and may be made by coating a fabric with a porous plastic. The two layers 5, 7 may be combined by applying a plastic layer to a porous material and then perforating the plastic layer. |
