<p>The hose (1), which is made from a material which can be cross-linked, exhibits locally-differing degrees of cross-linking in the axial and/or circumferential directions. Where the hose is curved (3), the cross-linking is less than in a straight section (2). An additive in the hose material, is an agent intensifying cross-linking, or a coactivator. Some zones (2) of the hose are cross-linked, others (3) not. These zones alternate along the length of the hose. Local cross-linking is induced by radiation. The hose includes reinforcing material, especially glass fiber reinforcement. The cross-linking material is a thermoplastic elastomer. It comprises a cross-linking thermoplastic and a corresponding thermoplastic elastomer. The hose is a charging-air line for an automobile engine. To make the hose, regions not to be cross-linked are masked, the remainder is then cross-linked using an agent which is especially radiation (5, 6). The masking shields against radiation. It is a metal foil. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of manufacture.</p> |
