Thrust reverser assembly for a gas turbine engine and method of operating same

A thrust reverser assembly (100) for a gas turbine aircraft engine is provided. The thrust reverser assembly (100) includes a first plurality of turning vanes (180) for channeling airflow from the gas turbine engine (10) across a surface of an aircraft wing (12) to facilitate increasing lift, and a second plurality of turning vanes (182) for channeling airflow from the gas turbine engine to effect reverse thrust.
