NOVEL TRICYCLIC DERIVATIVES AND A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

A tricyclic alkaloid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is provided to improve immunosuppression, immunomodulation, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects while reducing toxicity and possibility of mutagenesis. A tricyclic alkaloid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is represented by the following formula (I) or (II). In formula (I), when R1 represents N(R5)C(X1)-A, R2 represents H, X2R6 or X2(O)n1R6; and each of R3 and R4 represents H, methyl, or a linear or branched lower alkyl; each of R5 and R6 represents H or a linear or branched lower alkyl; each of X, X1 and X2 represents O or S; and n1 is an integer of 1-2; and A represents any one of the following (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) and (g).
