A device and a method for recording contents are provided to reuse a memory device having bad bits which are defective phenomena of the memory device by recording the desired contents in a ROM(read only memory) card. A CPU(Central Processing Unit) detects a memory card to check defective bad bits(41). The CPU sets a header data sector in the sector without the bad bits and sets a content data sector for storing the content data(42). The CPU records the content characteristic information in the header data sector and records the content data, ignoring the bad bits even if the bad bits exist in the content data sector(43).
