An encapsulation method and an encapsulation apparatus for a flat panel display device are provided to accurately mount a protective unit on an opening of a cap tray by detecting bending of the protective unit. An encapsulation apparatus includes a cap tray(302), plural pusher blocks(304), a pusher plate(306), a pushing unit(308), and a position determining unit(310). The cap tray includes plural openings where a protective unit is mounted. The pusher blocks are arranged to be opposite to the openings and move toward the openings. The pusher plate supports the pusher blocks. The pushing unit is connected to the pusher plate and presses the pusher plate, so that a pressure is applied to the protective unit. The position determining unit determines whether the protective unit is mounted on an accurate position. |
