A lithium second battery is provided to reduce the risk of firing or explosion markedly under a high temperature condition without causing a performance decline of a battery. A lithium secondary battery comprises a reactive material added to an electrode or electrolyte of a battery, wherein the reactive material is thermally polymerized in the absence of a polymerization initiator under a high temperature condition caused by an abnormal operation of a battery to make an electrolyte gel-like. The high temperature condition capable of causing a thermal polymerization reaction of the reactive material is 80 °C or higher.
