APPATURUS AND METHOD FOR HOME BTS USING PACKET NETWORK IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A home BTS(Base Transceiver Subsystem) device using a packet network in a mobile communication system and a method are provided to offer a mobile communication service to a portable terminal even in a particular hot spot or in a place where a backhaul network used as a dedicated interface of an existing mobile communication system is absent. A home BTS(375) provides a mobile communication terminal to a terminal by using a packet network as a backhaul network, sends a connection request message to a switching center, receives a channel allocation request message, performs a wireless channel allocation process with the terminal, and sends a channel allocation complete message to the switching center. A home BTS manager(350) provides information for offering the mobile communication service to the BTS(375). A security gateway protects a network of a mobile communication system from the packet network. The switching center transcodes voice data, prepares for a CODEC to be used by the terminal, receives the connection request message, and transmits the channel allocation request message to the BTS(375).
