A method and a terminal for evaluation a driving index for evaluation driving of a driver are provided to evaluate a driving state of a vehicle with the driving index by receiving a current velocity from the vehicle, estimating fuel consumption from the current velocity, and calculating a score according to the velocity and the fuel consumption. Specification information including weight, a gear ratio, a tire radius, a resistance coefficient, a front projection area, and an engine displacement of the vehicle is received and stored. Driving information is received from the driven vehicle in real-time and is stored to an internal memory(S10). A current gear ratio of the vehicle is calculated based on a vehicle velocity and an engine RPM(Rotation Per Minute) included in the driving information(S20). The minimum driving power of the vehicle and a BMEP(Brake Mean Effective Pressure) of an engine are calculated by using the vehicle velocity, the engine RPM, and the gear ratio, and kick-down of the vehicle is estimated(S30). Virtual fuel consumption is calculated by using the BMEP(S40). The driving index calculated from the vehicle velocity and the fuel consumption is evaluated(S50). |
