A vertical sync correcting method of a television is provided to prevent degradation of picture quality when a non-standard input signal is inputted by compensating a vertical sync signal of the non-standard input signal by generating trial sync by using a color synchronization signal. It is checked whether an input signal is a standard signal(S11). If the input signal is not a standard signal, trial sync is added to the input signal(S12). The trial sync-added non-standard input signal or a standard input signal is inputted to a television set(S13). It is checked whether vertical sync of the inputted signal is detected in the television set(S14). If no vertical sync is detected, the trial sync is detected(S15). An image signal is displayed according to the detected vertical sync or the vertical sync compensated by the trial sync(S16). |
