#CMT# #/CMT# The brake has an electric motor driving, in rotation, a crank (26), and two rods (27, 28) connected to the crank and to a cross bar (33) which drives braking cables (35) by axes (29, 30, 31, 32) around which the rods are in rotation. Two stops (36, 37) limit the rotation of one rod (27). The motor is connected to an endless screw (22) and drives, in rotation, a toothed sensor ring (23) that is connected to the crank, where the ring has a large diameter. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Electric parking brake for a motor vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The toothed sensor ring associated with the endless screw offers a mechanical efficiency of 90 percentage while the rods and the crank offer a mechanical efficiency of 90 percentage, thus allowing the electric parking brake to obtain total efficiency of 80 percentage, and hence implementing the brake in a simple manner and avoiding the need for utilizing very powerful and expensive motor while offering three possible pulling levels which correspond to disengaged brake position, moderately engaged brake position and completely engaged brake position. The cost of the brake is thus reduced. The large diameter for the ring reduces the constraints on the materials, so that inexpensive materials are utilized to reduce the noise. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a functional diagram of an electric parking brake. 21 : Electric motor 22 : Endless screw 23 : Toothed sensor ring 26 : Crank 27, 28 : Rods 29, 30, 31, 32 : Axes 33 : Cross bar 35 : Braking cables 36, 37 : Stops. |
