<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment tool for an endoscope, where a treatment tip protruding from the treatment tool is easily adjustable in length with the tool kept inserted through the endoscope insertion channel so that the treatment tip can fit the conditions of the affected part to be treated, and this can be achieved with an extremely simple, highly practical and low-cost construction of the treatment tool. <P>SOLUTION: A stranded wire 2, 2' made by twisting a plurality of strands is used at least for the leading end and its neighborhood of an operation wire 2, and a soft compression material 4 is provided at an area near the tip of a flexible sheath 1. This soft material 4 is crushed by elastic deformation when it is pressed against by the outer peripheral surface of the stranded wire 2, 2'. When an operation part 20 operates the operation wire 2 to rotate around the axis, the stranded wire 2, 2' compressed and engaged with the soft compression material 4 advances or retreats in the axial direction while rotating around the axis.
