PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas oil composition for stably operating a diesel engine for longer terms that can suppress corrosion as much as possible, even when the fuel temperature is raised by a fuel injection apparatus, thereby enabling precise combustion control for longer terms. SOLUTION: The gas oil composition has a total sulfur content of at most 10 mass ppm with a sulfur content of at most 2 mass ppm from mercaptans and a sulfur content of at most 0.4 mass ppm from sulfur compounds heavier than n-decyl mercaptan (1-decanethiol) and lighter than dibenzothiophene in the total sulfur content.
