A real time editing method using a time shift in a digital broadcast receiver having an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) is provided to allow a user to easily edit a recorded image in real time without having to perform a complicated editing process. When a digital broadcast receiver is turned on, the digital broadcast receiver selects a channel set by a user and displays a broadcast signal received via the selected channel(S200,S202,S204). The broadcast signal is time shift-recorded by using a time shift function(S206), and a request for editing in real time the broadcast signal being time shift-recorded is received(S208). An editing screen image is displayed to allow the user to input editing markers(S210). An image of the selected channel is edited and recorded in real time according to the editing markers inputted on the editing screen image(S212,S214).
