An arch chute for a circuit interrupting device is provided to omit use of one circuit for each rated voltage by providing an arc chute which can be adopted for other rated voltages. An arc chute(3) for a circuit interrupting device includes a plurality of arc chute units(4). The plurality of arc chute units are connected to each other in series. The arc chute for the circuit interrupting device further includes a switch member(7). The switch member is connected to a part(4a) of the arc chute units so as to bypass the some of the arc chute units. The switch member is constituted of a disconnecting device. The witch member is constituted of a semiconductor switch. The arc chute units are connected to each other in series by conductive members(5). The switch is connected between two conductive members among the conductive members. Circuit interrupting devices incorporate the arc chute. A direct current circuit interrupting device incorporates the arc chute.
