A facsimile transmission method is provided to transmit only a desired image selectively using a thumbnail image, thereby preventing unnecessary facsimile transmission and reducing power consumption. Reference information of facsimile data is transmitted from a transmitting facsimile device to a receiving facsimile device(S101). The receiving facsimile device determines whether the facsimile data are received or not, based on the reference information. When the facsimile data are determined to be received, the transmitting facsimile device transmits the facsimile data to the receiving facsimile device(S107). The reference information includes a reduction image of an image corresponding to the facsimile data, and the reduction image is displayed when the receiving facsimile device determines the reception of the facsimile data.
