An apparatus for providing channel information in a video recording system by using biorhythm and a method thereof are provided to offer the recommended channel information of a broadcast program according to user's biorhythm data, thereby granting a wide channel selection chance to the user through the channel list of the broadcasting program suitable for biorhythm such as user's body, feeling, and intelligence. An apparatus for providing channel information in a video recording system by using biorhythm includes a memory(104,114), a tuner(110), a decoder(118,120) and a microcomputer(102). The memory stores biorhythm data according to the data of user's birth. The tuner selects and tunes the channel of a broadcast program. The decoder decodes and outputs the AV(Audio/Video) data of the broadcast program tuned in the tuner. The microcomputer extracts the biorhythm data of the user according to user's selection information, outputs the recommended channel information of the broadcast program based on the extracted biorhythm data, and tunes, decodes and outputs the broadcast program of a channel out of the recommended channels.
