<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which enables a service technician or the like on a maker side to easily comprehend the service conditions of an improper toner cartridge even when the improper toner cartridge is continuously used, and also enables a user to recognize that such conditions are caused. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a first storage means for storing the inherent information of a renewal part such as a toner cartridge or an ink cartridge which can be attached to/detached from an apparatus body, and a second storage means for storing the service information of the renewal part. In such a state where the renewal part is attached, the inherent information is read out from the first storage means, and when an effect that the renewal part is proper is not judged from the result of judgement by a necessary judging means for judging whether or not the renewal part is proper, the second storage means stores the service information of the renewal part.
