<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold-cathode electron source having an electron emission layer capable of executing field emission nearly at uniform height to a surface of a wire-like negative electrode base. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode base is formed into a wire-like shape with an alloy material of zinc and a metal having a melting point higher than that of zinc. The wire-like negative electrode base is heat-treated, and multiple whiskers each having a diameter of several nm to 100 nm are projected from the surface thereof in a sharp needle-like shape suitable for executing the field emission. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
