PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct-acting guide device and a side seal equipped with it, which can improve the dust-proofing performance and prevent the productivity lowering. SOLUTION: The direct-acting guide device 1 is provided with a guide rail 2, a slider 4 laid astride the guide rail 2 relatively movably, and the side seal 6 disposed in moving direction both ends of the slider 4 respectively. The side seal 6 is composed of a case 26 disposed in the slider 4 side, a scraper 28 disposed at a further side from the slider 4 than the case 26, and a seal 30 installed between the case 26 and the scraper 28. The scraper 28 has a through hole 34 for checking, penetrating the surface opposite to the slider 4. The through hole 34 for checking is formed so that it is visually recognized from the moving direction of the slider 4 whether or not the seal 30 is present between the case 26 and the scraper 28.
