PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method of suitably keeping a chlorine concentration in water for a long period of time using a chlorine releasing device when water is preserved in a plastic tank or the like for a long time. SOLUTION: In the chlorine releasing device, at least a part of a container containing a high bleaching powder, or a bleaching powder and calcium chloride is formed of a film having gas permeability, and chlorine is released through this gas-permeable film. The chlorine concentration in water is kept in a suitable concentration for a long time by concurrently using a chlorine releasing device A having a large amount of calcium chloride and a chlorine releasing device B having a small amount of calcium chloride immersed in water. Accordingly, when city water is preserved in a large container such as the plastic tank for a long time, using this method can maintain a suitable chlorine concentration in water from an early stage and can also maintain a suitable chlorine concentration in water for a long time thereafter. Further, since this chlorine releasing device can be manufactured with a simple structure and at a low cost, economically advantageous water can be preserved for a long period of time.
