A method and an apparatus for handling transmission errors in a wireless communications system are provided to reduce error detection failures or wrong determinations without delay of local receiving identity signal report. A method for handling transmission errors in a wireless communications system includes the steps of: performing count for first packets when first receiving identity signals corresponding to the first packets are received(302); and transmitting a local receiving identity signal(Local ACK) to a transmission terminal of an HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Retransmission reQuire) system when the count value for the first packets reaches a predetermined maximum value(304).
