<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract front monitor light, while hardly generating branch loss of laser light in a light source with stabilized laser output. <P>SOLUTION: An optical branch element 1 is constituted by fuse-bonding a second optical fiber 11 that separates and extracts light propagating in the cladding of a first optical fiber 10 to a part of the cladding of the first optical fiber 10 where laser light enters.
