<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ship propulsion system capable of obtaining the propulsion output by a compact propulsion device which is redundant for guaranteeing at least the minimum cruising speed and standardized as much as possible in at least a critical zone. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates in particular to an electric propulsion system for electrically propelling a ship, which system comprises at least two side pods (3) and a central shaft line (4).
