PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in the technical field in which a heated and softened material is pressed by a molding die which is separated to an upper die and a lower die, which are opposed to each other, to mold an optical component, a technique for releasing the optical component adhered to the upper die in the die opening without reducing the centering accuracy of the molding die. SOLUTION: A molding die 10 for an optical component comprises an upper die 20 for molding one surface of the optical component, a lower die 30 for molding the other surface of the optical component, and a barrel mold 40 in which a passing region V is provided, the passing region V holding the lower die 30 and passing the upper die 20 so that the symmetric axis Z of rotation of the upper die 20 and that of the lower die 30 may be in agreement. The passing region V is provided in a cylindrical shape ranging from the upper end surface to the lower end surface of the barrel mold 40.
