PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester polycondensed by using a catalyst containing no metallic compound such as a titanium compound, an antimony compound, a tin compound and a germanium compound, that is, a polyester excellent in transparency, color tone and moldability or a polyester having barrier property, and using no heavy metal catalyst but a catalyst capable of polycondensing at a rate causing no problem on productivity. SOLUTION: The polyester comprises polycarboxylic acid ingredients comprising 15.5-100 mol% isophthalic acid and polyhydric alcohol ingredients comprising 30-100 mol% ethylene glycol, wherein the polyester is polycondensed by using a polycondensation catalyst containing one or more selected from a group consisting of aluminum and compounds thereof.
