PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combat hair whitening and to restore hair pigmentation. SOLUTION: The use of 3H-1,2-dithiole-3-thione, anethole dithiolethione, sulforaphane, phenethyl isothiocyanate 6-(methylsulfinyl)hexyl isothiocyanate, allyl isothiocyanate and a derivative thereof for treating canities is provided. A composition comprises, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, at least one compound selected from the 3H-1,2-dithiole-3-thione, anethole dithiolethione, sulforaphane, phenethyl isothiocyanate, 6-(methylsulfinyl)hexyl isothiocyanate, allyl isothiocyanate and derivative thereof and a mixture thereof combined with another active agent selected from an agent for combating desquamative conditions of the scalp, a plant extract with a propigmenting activity and an agent that slows down hair loss or that promotes its regrowth.
