The device has a tire pulling tool (17) rotatable about an axle and mounted at a distance from the axle, an electric motor (2) for driving the tool and an electrical supply for the motor. The power supply unit is connected to a gradient limiter that causes a braking current to be fed to the drive motor if the gradient of the torque transferred to the tool exceeds a defined value.
