The boiler (1), for a circuit (8) giving heat and hot water, has a control (11) for the burner (6) which switches it off when a temperature sensor (9) registers a threshold heat level in the heating circuit. During the calibration stage, when the burner is switched on and/or for a given time span after calibration, the control switches off the burner only when the sensor registers a higher temperature than the threshold.
