SUBSTANCE-CONTAINING CARBON NANOHORN COMPOSITE HAVING POLYAMINE PLUG AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A carbon nanohorn composite comprising a carbon nanohorn and a polyamine used as a plug, the polyamine being tenaciously adsorbed through a chemical reaction with a surface functional group present on the surface of the opening part of the carbon nanohorn. The amount and rate of the release of a substance contained in the nanohorn can be regulated by selecting a polyamine for the plug from polyamines differing in size, substituent, or three-dimensional structure. Also provided are: a method of controlling the release of the substance contained; and a process for producing the composite. In producing the carbon nanohorn composite, which contains a substance and has a polyamine plug, the opening of a carbon nanohorn formed by oxidation is plugged with molecules of a polyamine selected among polyamines differing in any of size, substituent, and three-dimensional structure. Thus, the amount and rate of the release of the substance contained are regulated.
